AEAS Official Sydney Course Partner, International House (IH), will soon offer school aged international students even more opportunities to prepare to join their Australian schools, when it launches its Primary and High School Preparation Courses at its Melbourne and Gold Coast campuses.

For the past 15 years, the Primary and High School Preparation programs have been run by Sydney College of English, before they were moved to International House Bondi in June 2020. The course curriculum provides international students with the skills and knowledge to successfully transition from ELICOS into an Australian school setting.

All students undertaking an IH School Preparation course in Melbourne or on the Gold Coast will sit an AEAS Test upon completion. In doing so, students will gain an accurate picture of their progress through the course, and their schools will benefit from an individualised report which provides a comprehensive picture of the student’s readiness for the challenges of the classroom, and any ongoing support they may require.

Knox Grammar School has worked together with Colin Muirhead, Director of Studies for the PSP and HSP programs , previously at Sydney College of English and now at International House, for many years. The High School Preparation course was originally designed by Colin Muirhead and is a very good introduction to the language and content of Australian school subjects, as well as the culture and rhythms of Australian classrooms. The HSP program certainly makes the transition to school here so much smoother than would otherwise have been the case for our students.

International student applications to Kincoppal-Rose Bay School require an AEAS Report. Following AEAS recommendations for intensive English tuition, students enrol in the High School Preparation or Primary School Preparation courses offered by International House. For over six years, Kincoppal-Rose Bay (KRB) has worked closely in professional, open communication with Colin Muirhead, Academic Director and Vera Liu, Marketing Manager.

Colin, Vera and their colleagues wholeheartedly support our students’ academic progress, development and well-being, including family liaison, whilst keeping KRB regularly updated with comprehensive reports. Such a rewarding relationship with IH significantly enhances success for students, with many achieving excellent ATARs in the HSC at KRB and entrance to courses of choice at Sydney University, UNSW, UTS, Macquarie, ANU and Melbourne University.”

Sue Lancaster, Head of Admissions at Kincoppal-Rose Bay School

From early 2021, IH will also offer the AEAS Official Test Preparation Course and the AEAS School Preparation Course at their brand new Gold Coast campus. This will be the third location in Australia in which AEAS Preparation Courses are available, and the first time they will be offered in Queensland. International House has been delivering official AEAS courses at their Sydney location for almost 12 months, and is the only official AEAS Course Provider in New South Wales and Queensland. The official Melbourne AEAS Course Provider is Australian Institute of Language (AIL).

AEAS has supported international school aged students as they prepare for their study abroad journey for over 35 years. Our close working relationship with Australian schools provides us with an excellent understanding of the most successful pathway for international students to transition into these schools. Designed specifically for school aged students, the AEAS Test is the most trusted and requested by Australia’s top schools.

AEAS has developed two different Preparation Courses that help students develop their confidence and English skills, and make the most of the opportunity to study in an English speaking school. You can read more about the AEAS Preparation Courses in detail here:

Successful completion of the AEAS School Preparation Course is now highlighted on the front page of the AEAS Report, helping international students to make their enrolment application even more attractive to the Australian schools they sre applying to.

Students, parents and schools are advised to be cautious of third parties offering unauthorised AEAS Preparation Courses. Students’ results are based on their actual English language skills at the time of testing – it is not possible to guarantee scores. Courses that offer guaranteed AEAS scores should be avoided!

We look forward to adding more locations for AEAS Preparation Courses throughout 2021.
